The Human Rights Council (HRCO) is a membership-based, non-partisan, non-political, non-governmental, not for profit and independent human rights group in Ethiopia. HRCO stands for democracy, the prevalence of the rule of law and respect of human rights in Ethiopia. From its inception on October 1991, HRCO remains the only human rights monitoring and reporting group in Ethiopia. Furthermore, HRCO is engaged in the provision of human rights education and training for the public and members of the government at all levels; conducting human rights related studies and researches; disseminating and publishing results; and providing legal aid services mainly to victims of human rights violation.
